Map Router

Overview

A map routing program that provides the fastest route to a destination. Uses real-time traffic flow and incident updates.

Utilized the Tom-Tom Map SDK and API for fast and efficient matrix routing.

Goals

Understand and integrate an SDK (TomTom's map SDK) to build a functioning map router.

Synthesize technical documentation for efficient implementation and error handling.

Use an API from Rapid API to convert user's inputted address to latitude and longitude which is needed for TomTom's API. Allowing any address/location input also provides a better user experience.

Implement real-time traffic flow and incident updates.

Next Steps

Build a responsive design that also works for mobile.

Have users input current address and input destination address for easier routing (rather than inputting current address and dragging the screen to click the destination address).

Have an option for users to provide their current location (avoiding the need to manually input their current address).

Include a "time to reach destination" from your current location for both a car and on foot.
